Adrienne & Matthew | Married!

The 2021 wedding season was one for the books! Not only were there so many beautiful weddings, but a couple of long-anticipated ones too because of COVID. Adrienne & Matthew’s destination wedding was one of them. This California couple was supposed to get married in June of 2020 and ended up having to postpone to June of 2021. So, we were basically “dating” for two years, lol! As I sat here writing this diary entry, watching the wedding video, and looking through all the photos of the day, it brought a smile to my face, even a tear or two, happy ones of course! It took me back to the moment where I was standing on the stairs at Raven Glacier Lodge, looking down on all the wedding guests, dancing, laughing, and having a good time. It reminded me of how I missed these special moments, the gathering and celebrating with family and friends. It was such a perfect wedding day!

Let me highlight some of the things I loved about this wedding:

  • Adrienne and Matthew chose to do a first look at Raven Glacier Lodge then headed out on an Alpine Air Alaska helicopter to get some pre-ceremony couple photos on a Glacier. Just look at these photos…can you say “dreamy?!”
  • There were so many pretty, little details for this wedding. Where do I begin? The Bride made their weddings favors that consisted of a homemade candle, homemade soap, and a small bottle of Anchorage Distillery Gin. Instead of table numbers, they had pet portraits with their doggies’ names, the guest book which was a poster of their thumbprints in a heart shape was so unique. They also offered Signature drinks, an Old Fashion, and a Moscow Mule, and let’s not forget to mention that they also choreographed their first dance!
  • The couple made sure that we all got fed for lunch and ordered Coast Pizza for everyone including the vendors. This was so much appreciated because wedding day’s are usually so busy that we don’t have time to eat. Thank you for thinking of us too!
  • I just loved the ceremony set up and all the elements that were added between J&M AK Wedding Design props and the couples décor. Paper Peony’s floral arrangement for the arch was the “icing on the cake!”
  • The Whisky Blending Unity Ceremony was a first for me. The Bride and the Groom poured their individual spirits into a personalized whisky barrel that they had made special for the wedding.
  • Bouquet and Garter Toss – Now this little tradition had a little twist to it! The bouquet and garter toss were coed. For the bouquet toss, we added lotto scratch cards to the bridal bouquet and the Groom tossed a hockey puck instead of a Garter. Whoever caught the puck got to go to a future NHL hockey game with the groom! How fun is that!?
