Real Alaskan Weddings

Liz & John | Married!

When I saw the 619 area code, I knew I had to book this wedding! Why do you ask? Well, 619 will always have a place in my heart, it’s San Diego baby! My home sweet home before I moved to Alaska. Liz and John decided to get married in July at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. It was a very small, intimate destination wedding with just close friends and family. A mountain top ceremony, with dinner for 11 outside under a tent, and live music from the Anchorage String Quartet and Jared Woods. So simple, yet so perfect!

Let me highlight some of the things I loved about this wedding:

  • Let’s start with her Christian Louboutin wedding shoes! Oh…M…G, it was like the clouds disappeared, the sun came out, and church music started playing when I set my eyes on those gorgeous shoes! It gave me all the chills and according to Mary Alice with Ebb & Flo Hair Boutique she said she remembered my face when I saw those pretty things (that probably should have been captured on camera)! Haha, it reminded me of those glass slippers that Cinderella wore to the ball. Probably not the best shoes for the mountain terrain but Liz was able to do switch-ups between them and her flip-flops!
  • The mountain top ceremony location was perfect! There was no need for an arbor or tons of flowers, nope you already had the beautiful backdrop of Girdwood and Turnagain Arm.
  • The chairs, I’ve never seen a chair look so lovely as these X back chairs did! Thanks to Uptown blossoms for decorating them!
  • The guest book was a framed custom constellation map that featured the unique night sky view from the date and location, July 1, 2021, in Girdwood, Alaska.
  • The sweet tribute to John’s late mother – We had photos of her and a rose placed at an empty place setting for her.
  • And last but not least, this is the part where I give a huge shoutout to Amanda with Amanda Kolstedt Photography! One of the most important things for me as a wedding planner is being able to share my work on my website, my portfolio, and social media. So, when Liz told me that they were pretty private people, a part of me died inside because I wanted to showcase this wedding, but wasn’t sure how I was going to be able to. I mentioned this to Amanda and as you can see from these photos below she did a beautiful job of capturing all these wedding moments while still being respectful to their wishes. And she even shot some of the wedding on film! Yes, film as that was really important to John. She’s a badass in my book!
