Real Alaskan Weddings

Ellen|Bryce – Married!

Fall in Alaska is probably my most favorite season of all. The colors are insane and if you blink, you’ll miss it because it only lasts about two months if we are lucky! I’ve known Ellen for a while, side note, she’s my dental hygienist and it takes quite a bit of talent to talk weddings while you are having your teeth cleaned! LOL! So, the minute she got engaged I knew I had, and wanted to be her wedding planner!

Ellen and Bryce decided to have their wedding in Copper Landing, Alaska which is about 2 hours from Anchorage. The ceremony took place at the Old Cooper Landing Boat Launch and the Reception was held at the family cabin, outside on the driveway under a tent. This actually worked out in our favor because with COVID last year, we were able to still have a fairly good-sized wedding because of the location and the setup.

Some of my favorites to note from this wedding:

  • The Ceremony location at the Old Cooper Landing Boat Launch was gorgeous and they couldn’t have picked a better spot! Right on the water with all the Fall colors in the background. And even though it rained all day, right up to the ceremony start time, someone up there was watching over us. Because as soon as the Ceremony began, it stopped raining, and the sun kind of peeked at one point!
  • The Groom and his Groomsman’s entrance into the Ceremony was a first for me. Bryce decided he wanted to arrive on a boat with his Groomsman and drove that boat right up to the shore! When they first told me the plan, I have to admit, I thought it was a little crazy but it turned out to be one of my favorite all-time entrances! It was like Baywatch Alaska style! Ha ha! (Watch the video and you will see what I mean!)
  • The color of the Bridesmaid dresses was burnt orange. A bold color choice but ideal for Fall and with the guys in Navy, it was the perfect combination!
  • The Mother/Daughter Dance was truly beautiful and touching at the same time. Ellen’s father had passed years ago and she decided to have her mother walk her down the aisle and do a Mother/Daughter dance.
  • This backdrop of the Selfie Station…wow! It was made by the Bride’s twin sisters. You’ll see what I mean when you see the photo below!
  • COVID Aware – I appreciated that Bryce and Ellen were taking steps to show their guests that they wanted to keep everyone safe and make sure people were comfortable. Guests were encouraged to sanitize and wear masks before they went through the buffet and provided those items at the buffet, the ceremony and reception were located outside, and sanitizer was placed at the entrance with a sign “Spread Love Not Germs.”
