Liz | Brett – Married!

What happens when you have to cancel your wedding in Minnesota, then you decide to get married in Hawaii (since you were already going there for your honeymoon,) but then you find out that you have to pretty much quarantine for 2 weeks before you can leave your hotel room? Well, you end up eloping in Alaska! Yep, that is what Liz and Brett did!

Brett reached out to me about two months or so before they were planning to elope and just needed someone to help officiate the ceremony, give him advice on the final vendors to book, and share any legal matters that needed to be tended to before they arrived in Alaska. I am ordained but I don’t do much officiating, as I prefer to be in the background! 🙂 But since this was such an intimate ceremony with just them and Donna, our photographer I was happy to step in! And I am so happy I did! This elopement was DREAMY and you will see from the photos!

Some of my favorites things to note from this elopement:

  • The ceremony location was unbelievable!!! Portage Lake was breathtaking in all its beauty, the water that blueish teal color that I am continually in awe of every time I see it! This is definitely one of my favorites spots to tie the knot!
  • Liz’s black Mrs. leather jacket that she rocked!
  • The very personalized wedding script that Brett put a lot of thought into. I normally provide a standard script and he wanted to make it their own, and he certainly did that. Seeing Liz surprised and smiling ear to ear, then laughing, then shedding a tear was beautiful to witness!
  • The moment Brett busted out his fishing pole and waders to take photos, lol! Brett loves to fish so being able to marry Liz and take pictures of him and his fishing gear was having at that moment the best of both worlds!
  • The various locations that they got to take wedding photos at from Byron Glacier, to Bird Point, to Virgin Falls in Girdwood.
  • The hospitable Alaskans that we are – as we were wrapping up signing the marriage license Liz and Brett met a man and a woman who was showing her friend around Alaska. They were so excited to meet Liz and Brett that they asked if they could take a picture of them and, even offered to help with a fishing boat charter for their honeymoon around Alaska. Seriously, what other state has people that are this nice!!!??
