Lorell’s Favorite Things 2020

Well, I am back again with my list of my favorite things for 2020! I figured it was so much fun last year that I needed to make this a yearly thing! Even though my wedding season was light (because of you know what) there were some memorable things to share! So, let’s get to it!

I started 2020 with a bang with Melissa & Chris’s winter wedding at Alyeska Resort in January. There were so many details from this wedding to note, but I’ll have to limit it to just a couple or else we will be here all day, lol!

Can we talk about Chris and his Groomsmen first? Seriously, how coordinated are these guys??!! I love it so much because it’s usually the women who are the coordinated ones, and the Xtratuf boots were the icing on the cake!

The table centerpieces were designed by Dallas from Bloomsbury Blooms. Dallas came up with 4 different designs for the tables and I loved that she mixed it up and did not have all the tables match. Table #7 was one of my favorites!

The Hot Chocolate Bar was a hit!!! Guests went out to take part in the sparkler send off and when they got back they were able to warm up with hot chocolate and have it in their very own mug that also doubled as their wedding favor. The mugs were designed by Juliann of Piranah Farm. The mug design incorporated Twin Peaks Mountain which was a favorite mountain that the couple liked to hike and was supposed to be where Chris was going to propose to Melissa.

We can all agree that Reggie was the cutest ring bearer EVER! No further explanation is needed for why this made it to my favorite list!

This draping for Katie and Mahear’s wedding ceremony was dreamy! That is all!

With all the madness going in the world, we were still able to get Katelyne and Rob hitched before they drove across the country to start their new life in Maine. They canceled their large wedding and had an intimate wedding ceremony in Moose Meadows, Girdwood witnessed by close friends and family.

And right in the middle of that meadow, we were able to Zoom in Rob’s family to watch the ceremony from afar!

Liz and Brett came from Minnesota to tie the knot! They canceled their wedding at home, made plans to get married in Hawaii, and when that didn’t pan out, they came to Alaska. I think they scored big, this view was breathtaking…definitely one of my favorite spots to tie the knot.

If I had to give out an award for the best ceremony script, it would go to Brett hands down! He took my standard script and really put some thought into making it unique and their own! As you can see from this picture, we laughed A LOT! And Liz was definitely surprised!

This was the year of Brides with cool jackets! Definitely, a thumbs up from me on this leather jacket!

This entrance by Bryce and his Groomsmen to the wedding ceremony…brilliant, I tell ya! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cooler entrance for a Groom and his groomsmen. Not sure anyone will ever be able to top coming in on a boat for their wedding processional!

Another dreamy spot to tie the knot was Ellen and Bryce’s wedding ceremony in Cooper Landing. It took place at the old Boat Launch right on Kenai Lake. The location was simply incredible, especially with all the Fall colors around.

Now when it comes to wedding colors, this burnt orange for the Bridesmaids and Navy Blue suits for the Groomsman was a big old TEN for me! Love, love, love!

If you already haven’t figured out, I love bright colors. So, when Stacy came to me and said she wanted to do a Teal and Eggplant combination I was on all on board. Again, love, love, love!

This arch was brought in and decorated by Jodi with Wild Blossom Designs. It was a statement piece for sure, and guests were wowed as they walked through it into the Reception.

And I saved the best for last! This wedding cake was made by the Groom’s 10-year-old (yes, I said 10) niece, JaMya. Each time I look at this picture, I am still blown away, because I know that when I was 10, I was still playing with Barbie’s and not doing anything close to this amazing!
