Let me introduce myself…

ONE

I was born in Subic Bay, Philippines, which was a U.S. Navy base back in the day. I am not Filipino, I’m half Vietnamese and half White. I don’t speak Vietnamese, nor do I understand it.

TWO

I can’t like to drink beer or wine! I’ve tried since HS and I just don’t get it. However, give me a good margarita and I am a happy woman! Especially if it’s got my favorite Tequila in it, which is Cazadores! I also happen to think that in my past life I was an old Mexican lady because of my love of tequila!

THREE

I met my husband (who happens to be Filipino) in H.S. in the Philippines. I was a freshman and he was a sophomore. He was there for about 5 months before he moved back to Kodiak, Alaska. About 20 years later we reconnected on FB when I sent him a friend request!

FOUR

I cringed inside when people pronounce my name as “Laurel.” It’s Lor – rell. And to be fair, it’s a little bit my fault because I have a hard time correcting people. I just assume that I will never talk to that person again, and the opposite happens. We become acquaintances and I am forever cringing each time they say my name. It’s something that I am working on (Joe from Chugach Peaks Photography would be pleased)!

FIVE

I have a fear of armored trucks. Yeah, I know strange right? I just always think there’s some moron who is going to attempt to steal money from the truck and I don’t want to be around when that happens. If I see an armored truck, I will literally leave the store until they are gone! No joke, I’ve done this to my friend, Brooke when we were at the Holiday gas station one day. I was like “I’m out!” The look on her face was priceless!

SIX

I’m secretly addicted to the TV show “Hot Bench!” My Tivo records 2 episodes per day from Monday through Friday. It’s my guilty pleasure! But in my defense, I have learned a lot when it comes to my business and suing people. Remember, it’s your burden of truth to prove so always make sure you have everything in writing!

SEVEN

I have an obsession with shoes, especially gym/workout shoes! Always have, since I was a little girl. I have so many shoes that my husband had to put up shelves in our garage to store most of them.

EIGHT

“A.C. aka Animal Control, Girlfriend, 1971, Spitfire, and Babe.” What’s this you ask? Well, I have a habit of giving people nicknames. If you are my friend (or not) more than likely you have a nickname and you may not know it! I recently gave Orainda with Orainda’s Bridal Boutique the nickname “Auntie O!” I think she liked it!

NINE

I am a total gym rat and addicted to the Peloton bike (the best fitness equipment on the planet). And if Peloton would just ship the Tread to Alaska, I would have one of those too! Yeah, it may not look like I workout (thank you 2019 for letting me eat my way through the year) but I do at least 5 – 6 days a week. It’s my “me” time and if I am not answering emails or phone calls in the late mornings it’s probably because I am at the gym!

TEN

And last but not least, there’s an inner fat kid that lives inside me! I love food, especially Asian food, I could eat that all day, every day!
